Stacie Layman, Library Director
I was born and raised in Greenville, Ohio and graduated from Greenville High School in 1988.  I started a family shortly after and settled in the Brookville, Ohio area.  My husband Desi, and children Josh and Courtney moved to Bradford in 1997. Our son, Clay, was born soon after.

I graduated  from the Sheffield School of Interior Design in 2007 while raising my children.  I occasionally dabble in the field and do some interior house painting.  My husband and I have enjoyed putting his skills as a contractor and mine as a designer to use by turning our house, an abandoned church in Bradford, into a home.  You can always find me outside working in my flowers in the warmer months.

I  served as the Director for the Countyline Christian Association for several years and have had the privilege of running The Depot, a youth center in Bradford across the street from Bradford Public Library.  I have also served the community throughout the years with ministries like the Community Kitchen, Manna and volunteering at the schools.  Our family is blessed to call Bradford home and love the warm, friendly residents and sense of community.  The people of Bradford really take care of each other!

I began working at Bradford Public Library in the fall of 2011 as a sub and was hired as a Staff Librarian in February of 2012.  My job as librarian included many different tasks from checking materials in and out, shelving books, helping patrons find materials, ordering materials not found at Bradford Public Library and occasionally helping with the computers.  In 2012, I had the opportunity to edit a book on The Era of the Great Depression filled with the memories of Bradford area residents.  I enjoy all aspects of my job, but especially love getting to know the patrons and serving the community.

January 2017 I began a new adventure as the Library Manager, working alongside the director, managing the day to day operations of the library, overseeing the technology and taking on our exciting Summer Reading Program. I enjoyed every aspect of my position as manager and love working with the young readers.

November 1, 2018 I turned a new page and started my new position as Library Director. I look forward to serving the Bradford Community in this exciting way and will strive to lead our dedicated staff as they continue to offer excellent service to our patrons!

Bradford Public Library is not your typical library where everyone speaks in whispers and children are quieted.  The sound of children playing in the children’s area and adults gathering to talk makes our library feel alive!  Our staff and volunteers are always willing to help in any way we can making Bradford Public Library the “hub of the community!”
